How to travel light

New York, United States of America

By the time this post goes live, I’ll be somewhere in Orlando frolicking around the Walt Disney World channeling my inner 5 year old. This is my last stop before heading back to India and I really can’t believe it been a whole month! I mean I’m excited to head back (I miss Mumbai terribly) but time flies eh? We did four cities which was kinda nice but I really need to come back for other cities.

“Leave all the ‘what ifs’ outside your suitcase”

So one of the things that I have learned in the past year, or basically in all the traveling I did last year is how to pack smart and pack light. Packing is always a task. I leave it to the very last moment and then get all anxious about it at the eleventh hour. Below listed are the few things to keep in mind the next time you pack!

Istanbul, Turkey
  • Pre Plan: Even if you pack at the very last moment it is important to pre-plan your conduct your research. Check the weather forecast, if there is any specific clothing required for any activity you plan to do, if you’re gonna be walking a lot and all of that. The reason being, weather forecast will tell you what type of clothes to carry, if any activity has a specific clothing requirement then you can make sure to carry just that for those hours/ day, if you are going to walk a lot then you can ditch your heels for a pair of comfortable shoes. These are just examples. Do a thorough research.
  • Mix & Match: Get creative. You could wear a white tee with maybe a pair of his waisted jeans and sneakers one day and then pair it with a short skirt and kimono jacket other day. Instead of carrying one outfit each day just play around with a few classic and statement pieces. It’s fun and it saves a lot of space.

  • Pack Practical: You do not need 10 outfits for a 5 day trip. Leave all the ‘what ifs’ outside your suitcase. Carrying one or two extra outfits is fine for emergencies but if you don’t change your outfits every two hour here, its highly unlikely you’ll do it there.
  • Versatile accessory: Carry pieces that you can style with different outfits or that would give your outfit a definition. You don’t need too many pieces to complete an outfit. Just a few right ones.
  • Travel sized products: I cannot emphasize enough on how much space you’ll end up saving. If by any chance you don’t have a travel size of your cream/ remover/primer or anything, you can buy the travel containers for makeup and skincare which are easily available in the market.

So that was all for this post, hope you found it helpful!!
