Minimalist Wardrobe Essentials

Minimalist Wardrobe Essentials

If ever asked, I would say my personal style is the combination of minimal and smart clothing. I love pieces that can be worn in so many different styles and come together to create beautiful outfits. In fact this is what I even said in one of my interviews. If I am purchasing a piece of clothing I am going to make sure I get the full value out of it. In all honestly, I find minimal wardrobe to be so chic, efficient and easy on the environment (hello! Sustainable much?)

In the words of Marie Condo, “Does it spark joy?”

Some people misinterpret a minimal wardrobe consisting of basic whites and creams but let me clear that up.  A minimal wardrobe consists of less clothes which are generally more versatile in nature and can be paired with different clothing to create different outfits. But this doesn’t mean that you get rid of colors and stick to neutrals.  In the words of Marie Condo, “Does it spark joy?”. Below listed as some essentials that every minimal wardrobe should consist of:

Minimalist Wardrobe Essentials

Classic shirt: A Crisp White Shirt is a must have in every wardrobe! Such a versatile piece of clothing that can be styled in so many different ways and looks nothing but chic.

T-shirts: This is a staple for every wardrobe. Not much to explain here but just a tip, keep a mix of different colors, prints, patterns etc.

Minimalist Wardrobe Essentials

Bodysuits: Bodysuits are a live saver. Especially on the days when you don’t want to put in the effort but want to look good anyway. (Also, is it just me or do they also provide with some sense of power?)

Tank tops/ Camisole: As basic as it gets. But I have grown out of the tank top phase and am all about satin cami these days. Just layer it under a jacket or over a tee.

Jacket: Layers make any outfit better. But if you live in a city that is hot all year round, try light layers. Jean Jackets, over-sized blazer, flow kimonos, etc.

Knits: Sweaters, cardigans or shawls whatever your thing is. Don’t shy away from bold colors in knits as it makes your outfit stand out.

Minimalist Wardrobe Essentials

Blue jeans: A pair of dark blue high waisted denims that sit right on your waist, hips and thighs is God sent! To be honest, I even enjoy a pair of ripped denims from time to time.

Black Leggings: No wardrobe can be complete without a pair of black leggings. It is a must!

Midi dress: A flows midi dress is the perfect change of mood. Ideal for outings, dinner and those occasions where you need to look extra good.

Skirt: A-line, pencil, skater or whatever. It is unto you. Also, if you are up for it, try getting your hands on some printed skirts. They add an extra oomph.
