Winter skincare routine.

Hi guys, how are you all? I can’t believe it’s December already! Let me start by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! It is all so festive and Christmas-y here. Love this time of the year! But no matter what month it is, Mumbai will always be hot. There is a slight change in the weather though. My skin acts very different in winter, which calls for some extra care. It starts with three boils on forehead, dry patches around nose and itching! I know it is very weird, but that is how it is.

I know this post is long overdue so lets get into it! But before I dive into the post, let’s be clear on some points:

  1. This is not a sponsored post. I genuinely use all this products.
  2. I am not a skin expert in anyway. I am only sharing my experience with you all
  3. I have a normal to bit dry skin type, for which these products work well.
  4. Thankfully, my skin is not very sensitive which means I always keep on trying new products. I keep on changing the products.

Now that’s done lets start from the morning!

Face Wash

The first thing I do is wash my face either one of these cleanser. I seriously love both of them. The Neutrogena deep clean black head eliminating daily scrub has to be one of the best I have used till date. I am on my 4th tube currently! It has small beads in it, which helps in cleaning your face thoroughly along with being gentle on your skin. The Kiehl’s ultra facial cleanser is mild but effective. It is not very foamy which is good for a change ad also has some makeup removing properties. I love using this before going to bed.

Creams and Lotions:

Washing your face dehydrates your skin. It becomes very important to apply a good moisturizing facial cream. Again, I have 2 options. First is the Cliniques’ Moisture surge face cream which has a gel like consistency. It is immensely hydrating and does not have a smell to it. Second is The Body Shop Vitamin E aqua boost sorbet. This has a consistency like a sorbet cum gel. You only need a pea size amount of these creams and they work really well.

I use the Neutrogena sunscreen to protect my face and hands from the sun. This has SPF 50 which is really good given Mumbai heat, but it does feel a little heavy on the skin. For moisturizing my hands and legs, I have been loving the Body Shop milk lotion. You just need to spray it on your skin and then just rub it. This is super light weight and gets absorbed within seconds. I love this one and have already ordered a backup for this.

Lips:

My lips are always dry. Like not even kidding. I swear by the Neutrogena lip balm. Even my second tube is about to get over and I already have a backup. This helps in conditioning and protecting dry, chapped lips. The Cliniques’ mini chubby stick is good too. I use this if I am just going downstairs or to gym, it gives a nice tint to the lips. By now, I hope you all know the importance of a lip scrub. You can either DIY a lip scrub or just use the ones readily available in the market. I have been using the Forest Essentials cane sugar lip scrub, it leaves your lips feeling so moisturized and soft I can’t even explain!

Face packs:

I apply face packs twice or thrice a week. It helps in deep cleansing your face and in getting rid of the daily tan. The Fabindia haldi chandan mud pack helps in tightening the pores and getting rid off tan. I just let it sit on my face for like 15 minutes and then wash it off. Another one is the Forest Essentials facial ubtan in roop nikhar gulab. All you need to do is mix the powder with water, milk, curd or anything you want and either let it dry or scrub it nicely. You can also use the sheet masks. I use the ones by Innisfree and they add a nice glow to the skin. These are best for lazy days.

Night routine:

Before hitting the bed, I do a couple of things to wake up to a healthy skin in the morning. I start off with washing my face to get rid of all the dirt and oil. I use either one of the facewash mentioned above. Then I use the jasmine and patchouli night treatment cream by Forest Essentials and oh my God! This has to be the best cream out there. I love this to bits. It is so hydrating and gives my skin a beautiful bounce. If you are looking for a good night cream do check this out! Next I just use some coconut oil under my eyes to get rid to the bagginess and pigmentation. And then to finish off I use some lip balm.

All I apply on a daily basis is some concealer, but on days when I do apply some god makeup, I use the Garnier miceller cleansing water as my remover. This has to be my most loved product. It removes all makeup in one go and is oil and smell free. I don’t even need to use a facewash after this! Do get this if you can. I got mine via feelunique.com, (click here for the post) but I guess it is available for a much higher price on amazon.

I hate when my hands feel dry. Which is why I always carry a hand cream in my bag. This one is by Soap&Glory and it is really nice and thick. Also, I use the aloevera gel when my skin feels a bit irritated or else, when it feels very stretchy and not in best shape. It calms my skin. This one is by Fabindia but you can use any.

So that is it for my winter skincare routine! Hope it helps.
