New Year Hacks

First things first, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year guys! Now, I have been wanting to do a post like this for the longest but whenever I used to think about it/ make notes I somehow convinced myself that this is not the best decision. Maybe I’m scared of the reactions, maybe I’m not very comfortable dipping my toes in fashion related posts. Who knows?

Whenever I think of New Years, the first thing that comes to my mind are those Pinterest images of girls just dancing around with helium balloons in the background that read ‘NYE’ OR ‘HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019’ and yet somehow managing having the perfect slight wavy hair even after all that dancing. No. That cannot be right. I mean how can they be so happy and comfortable in those mini skirts with pencil heels and all the makeup? I have been celebrating new year for a while now and below listed are a few tips and tricks that I have observed and learned along the way.

  • Ditch the LBD for a Jumpsuit: LBD has been the holy grail of all party outfits for years now. But this time switch it for a jumpsuit. Jumpsuits look so chic and are so comfortable to move around in. Not only this, you can also layer it with different accessories to give it an even more edgy look.
  • Add a little texture: Do you know how to make any outfight a party outfit without doing much? Sequins/ Lace/ Velvet. Adding different textures gives the illusion of a better outfit and it seems more effort has been put into it.

  • Swap the heels for boots/ sneakers: New Years is about dancing. And I cannot dance in heels. I look up to the girls who dance so comfortably in heels. I mean just tell me your secret! But until they do, go for boots. Boots look so chic, are so comfortable and there is nothing you can’t do in them.
  • Statement accessory: Less is always more. You could be wearing the most simple outfit but with the right accesory the entire look can be changed. My personal style is a very casual one. So whenever need to dress up, all I need to do is accesorise it right. It may be a chunky jewellery or statement shoes or maybe a colour blocking bag. The choice is upto you.
  • Makeup: Okay I have been through my fair share of cakey base and raccoon style smokey eye. And the tick to avoid that is very simple. Use a lightweight foundation/ concealer, blend well and do set it. When applying eyeshadow be very patient. It takes a lot of blending to get it right but it is worth the effort. Lastly, make sure you balance the lips and eyes well i.e. dramatic eyes with soft lips and vice versa. (Read more)

  3. Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor were just preparing to do a little research on this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I’m very glad to see such wonderful information being shared freely out there.
